PATH Bridge Rehab Between Mason Mill and Medlock Park

UPDATE (3/17/2022): Repairs to the bridge and boardwalk which connects Mason Mill Park and Medlock Park will begin in April. The trail has been closed for a number of months after a section of the bridge was deemed unsafe by a structural engineer. The closure was also extended due to a shortage of material required to repair the bridge and boardwalk. The DeKalb County Recreation, Parks and Cultural Affairs Department appreciates the patience shown by all who use this facility for fitness, wellness and as a method of connecting with the parks and to other places of destination. They have communicated to the Contractor how important that this connecting bridge is to park patrons.  They will be working to complete these repairs as soon as possible.

DeKalb County is working diligently to have the bridge rehabilitated between Mason Mill and Medlock Park.  The funding was added into the mid-year budget request due to the criticality of the project.  They submitted to Purchasing and Contracting the contractor’s scope of work and estimate and hope to have final approvals and the contract approved to be able to complete the work very soon.

Unfortunately, a structural assessment has deemed that the current structure is unsafe to use until repairs can be made.  They understand that the detour route is not conducive to bicyclists.  Please know that this project is a very high priority to complete and they are doing everything they can to get the bridge rehabilitated and re-opened.
